Physical activities are important complements to brace wear. This improves posture and maintains physical health of the patient. It is therefore important for patients who are prescribed with brace to learn from the physiotherapists what type of exercise is suitable and how long they should perform the exercise. Physiotherapists will teach you the moves of exercise generally recommended for brace patients.
Excercises taught by the physiotherapists include stretching excercise and core muscle strenthening excercise.

There is also a type of scoliosis-specific exercise, the Schroth method, which is prescribed and indicated for certain patients by the orthpaedic specialist. The Schroth exercise aims to improve body mechanics and achieve spinal balance and stability to prevent curve progression. Specific exercises are designed according to individual’s curve pattern.
